The recipients of NEC's honorary Doctor of Music (hon. D.M.) degrees will be announced soon.
- Commencement: Sunday, May 21, 2023 | 2 p.m. ET | Jordan Hall
- Commencement Concert: Saturday, May 20, 2023 | 7:30 p.m. ET | Jordan Hall
The ceremony will take place in historic Jordan Hall and will be live streamed. Due to the size of this year’s graduating class, each graduate will be able to host a maximum of two guests for the ceremony. Advance tickets are required and will be available for pickup during the week prior to commencement. Additional guests are welcome and will be accommodated in an overflow space where a livestream of the Jordan Hall ceremony will be available.
The ceremony will have an approximate two-hour duration.

The first half of the ceremony will include remarks from leadership and alumni, student speakers, awards, and Honorary Doctorates, after which we will confer degrees and diplomas to students. The ceremony program will be available soon.
Alumni Speaker: Mei-Ann Chen ’95, ’98 MM
Mei-Ann Chen is the first student in NEC's history to receive master's degrees simultaneously in violin and conducting. Praised for her dynamic, passionate conducting style, she is acclaimed for infusing orchestras with energy, enthusiasm, and high-level music-making, galvanizing audiences and communities alike.
