EM provides students and alumni with individual advising and career coaching, courses to gain professional skill within the conservatory curriculum, pathways to gain professional experience through hands-on learning, and opportunities to fund and incubate new creative work.
The EM Office is on campus in SB201 on the second floor of the St. Botolph building. Virtual Advising is available to all currently enrolled students and all NEC alumni. For in-person advising, masks are no longer required, however please reschedule if you are feeling sick.

This June, Grow Your Art Grand Prize Winner Amanda Ekery '18 MM hosted the second year of El Paso Jazz Girls, a free program for high school girls in her hometown. This year, the program expanded to Austin, Texas--check out more on the El Paso Jazz Girls Blog.
In Spring 2019, EM Grant Winner Magdalena Abrego MM'19 published the first edition of input/output, the magazine she founded featuring female and non-binary individuals creating avant-garde and experimental music in the United States. A related podcast series will launch this fall.
In June 2019, Trio Gaia won an EM Travel Grant to attend the Ensemble Connect Audience Engagement Intensive at Carnegie Hall. Andrew Barnwell, Trio Gaia's pianist, is also the EM Nova Fellows Executive Director for 2019-20.
This summer, EM Grant Winner Naledi Masilo lanched the Dreaming Girls Music Conference in South Africa. Dreaming Girls is a three-day conference experience that focuses on engaging female musicians with social issues. Naledi was also the inaugural Bower Stage Fellow, programming performances on the Bower Stage in the SLPC.
Previous EM Grant Winner Emma Gies also won a Spark Award for further presentations of Under Our Skins, her workshop and performance dispelling race, gender, and sexuality stereotypes through oral history and musical improvisation.
