Because NEC previously received HEERF Student Aid Portion funding, it was not required to submit another Certification and Agreement for the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP). NEC has used the applicable amount of funds designated under Section 2003(a)(1) of the ARP to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

On September 30th, 2021, NEC received $468,940.00 from the ED to be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Approximately 807 NEC students were eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the ARP. In compliance with the ARP funding terms, NEC prioritized grants to students with exceptional need, and in particular, students who received Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), and/or Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible students for the 2021-2022 academic year. Award amounts were equitable within each of these three student populations (Pell, SEOG, and FWS eligible).

On September 27th, 2021, NEC informed 122 students of their Emergency Financial Aid Grants in amounts ranging from $1,840.00 to $5,500.00, totaling $468,940.00. Recipients were informed that the Emergency Financial Aid Grants can be used for any component of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care, or childcare. Grants to 106 students in the amount of $419,876.00 were disbursed on September 30th, 2021, while the remaining grants to 16 students in the amount of $49,064.00 will be disbursed in early October 2021.

Award amounts were equitable within each of these two student populations (Pell and SEOG).

On April 9th, 2021, NEC informed 73 students of their Emergency Financial Aid Grants in amounts ranging from $2,000 to $3,142, totaling $183,659.00.
